Cecilia's First Haircut!

I held off as long as I could to keep those precious curls. Four years, three months and twenty-two days to be exact ;). Just two inches and her hair is still curling at the ends :). Whew!

C&C Update

In an attempt to try and keep a record of life at The Wilson Crib, I want to try and update the blog weekly. Granted I haven't done well in updating since Cecilia was born, but I will start with simply updating as of last Monday.

On Tuesday, Colin and I met with Dr. Delahay (pediatric orthopedist) at Georgetown University Hospital for a second opinion regarding his tibial torsion (twisted shins causing pigeon-toeing). He advised us to wait 1 yr - 1 1/2 years to allow Colin to outgrow this - he stated that a year+ of walking was the cure. There are remedies such as casting and sleeping with a bar at night to help turn his shins. He did not recommend that, he felt as though with time, his gate will correct itself and those remedies would just cause discomfort and frustration for Colin. The first Dr. we saw, Dr. McHale with Faifax INOVA, proposed we see her in early December for a follow up (four months from first appt.) and that if we wanted to use the bar, she wrote a prescription for a specialist to fit Colin. Mike and I have decided to hold off and move forward as Dr. Delahay advised, for now.

On Wednesday, Mike and I celebrated our nine year wedding anniversary with a lovely dinner date at one of our favorite restaurants - Wildfire. Amazing time has flown - it doesn't seem like a long time, but we have packed quite a bit in to those nine years!

On that Wednesday, we had Cecilia's parent/teacher conference and she received glowing reviews - some funny comments were "CC is the real deal" and "Cecilia likes to pretend to run circle time, she sits in the library and "reads" book to other children. Sometimes no one else but her and she holds the book as if the children were looking at the pictures" (we see this at home frequently). "Cecilia cares about children as well as about grown-ups, she asked "Where were you the other day?"" Cecilia is also doing really well with writing her name and other words, counting and speaking Spanish - she is in a Spanish class this year.

On Friday, my sister came to town for the weekend and she and Mom stayed with us Friday-Saturday. It was so great seeing the kids with Stephanie - they love her so much, Colin immediately laid his head on her shoulder - something that is not the norm for him with 'new' faces. CC snuck Aunt Stephie into her room to play for awhile. They always love seeing Nana too of course.

On Saturday, Nana, Stephanie and I went to a craft fair in Fairfax at Stephanie and Johnny's old high school - lots of fun and lots of Christmas presents purchased!

On Sunday, Mike and I attended an open house at Saint James Catholic School (K-8) to meet with teachers, faculty and students as well as tour the school - we are looking at St. James for Cecilia to start Kindergarten next Fall 2014. We plan to tour another school and finalize our decision. Registration for kindergarten opens in January as does summer programs when Cecilia will be off from school. Suddenly we have 1 1/2 months left to make some big decisions including leave plans for next summer! Cecilia's graduation from St. Joseph's Preschool is Friday, June 27th. I repeat time is flying!

Big updates for just one week, some weeks are busier than others, the week ahead holds a FIRST HAIRCUT for Cecilia, business trip to Boston for Mike and a first family flight/vacation to Seattle to spend Thanksgiving with the Ames and the Browns. Until our next update - love to all! A few pics below...
