New Favorite Pictures

We spent Cecilia's first Thanksgiving with her grandparents - Abuela and Grandpa Wilson. Cecilia arrived in her mouse outfit which was given to her by her Great Aunt Patty and Great Uncle John. The other picture is of Cecilia in her new winter hat - too cute!!!!

November Pics

We continue to have a blast with little Cecilia - she is such a doll =) Here are some recent pics. The pumpkin hat is a hand-me-down from our Godson, Luca - who is second cousins with Cecilia =) The laughter shot is our first success at getting a picture of her laughing - still working on capturing a great smiling picture - but we will get it!

Some More Favorite Pictures from September and October

Of course I feel as though I'm not capturing every moment - we've done so much the last few months it seems - but will do my best! We had a Sip & See for our friends to meet Cecilia in September, already documented was Cecilia's first trip to the beach house in Rehoboth on Labor Day weekend, she met her Godparents the beginning of October, we went to the beach again for Columbus Day weekend and most recently we flew out to La Jolla, CA for Cecilia's Uncle Marc and Aunt Emily's wedding - which was a blast - lots of time spent with the Wilson and Sordo family and my folks even made the trip out as well! After all that fun - poor thing came down with the flu, urinary tract infection and a viral chest infection - ran an extremely high fever, was in the ER for several hours and basically gave her Mom and Dad their first official scares of being parents and worrying about their little girl. She was so strong and such a champ with all the tests they ran - she is one tough cookie! Last but not least, Cecilia celebrated her first Halloween - home sick - but she still dressed up as a ballerina =) So here are some pics to get caught up - Cecilia as a ballerina, one of our personal favorites from Columbus Day weekend - Cecilia wearing Daddy's sweater and Mommy's bonnet and giving her infamous "angry gnome" look at her Mommy, another cute picture from that weekend wearing Daddy's "bunting" and looking like a Wizard, Cecilia hanging out on the floor one day and Cecilia sitting with Dad the morning of when she met her Godparents. More pics to come - stay tuned =)

Some Favorite Pictures from August and September

Well, obviously being at home full time with Cecilia for those 3 months kept me busy because I dropped off on email, phone calls and updating this blog - now that I'm back at work - I have time to get caught up on the blog (on my lunch hour of course!). Wanted to post a few pics of Cecilia that we've enjoyed since our last post. This smiley picture is of Cecilia in her swing in her first month (August). The picture of Cecilia in her purple pants is from Labor Day weekend with Grandpa holding her in the swing (September). The picture in her pink polka dot pants is in September with Nana holding her at our house.

Like Mother Like Daughter...

My Mom found this outfit and brought it over after Cecilia was born and I've been meaning to put it on her and take this picture. This is the outfit I wore home from the hospital - no one knew the gender back then either, so Mama who flew out to Honolulu to help out, hung a pink dress in front of the house (so I'm told). Anyway - bonnets were "the thing" back then I'm discovering, as my Mom has also found a few bonnets of mine as well - they are sweater bonnets so Cecilia will wear more of her Mommy's bonnets this Fall. I think I just squeezed this picture in before lil' girl was too big to wear it!

Cecilia's First Weekend at the Beach House

We've been having a blast with Cecilia - this past Labor Day weekend we went to Rehoboth and had more "firsts". We took Cecilia to the Boardwalk and got a pic of the three of us at Dolle's, we went to the beach and got pics of us there - it was a great time - here are a few of my favorite pictures, including the infamous "I'm the Boss" t-shirt her Daddy used to wear all the time =)

Cecilia's Firsts

Yesterday, Cecilia went on her first walk in her stroller and had her first bath in her bathtub (vs the sponge bath she's been having). She loved the walk - she still is not a fan of the bath (as you can see), we hope that will change soon!

The pictures are endless....

...so picking just one was difficult - so far, this one has us laughing! I had just fed her and put her over my shoulder to burp, etc. and she wound up eventually leaning back and striking this pose. I called for Mike who came in with camera in hand and she had a little photo shoot. Hysterical. I think the most adorable thing about Cecilia is that she looks SO much like her handsome Daddy - I just love it!!!! I can't wait to watch her as she grows =)

It's a Girl!!!

On July 28, 2009 at 10:10 pm, Cecilia Clara Wilson entered our world and our hearts. She was born a healthy 7 pounds 10 ounces and 21 3/4 inches. The labor and delivery was different than we had planned for - due to some concerns over my high blood pressure, my Dr. chose to induce Monday night at 39 weeks 1 day old - 24 hours later - concerns over baby's high heart rate and an increasing fever for me - we went in for a c-section and within minutes were blessed with our beautiful daughter late Tuesday night. We all came home on Saturday evening and the fun hasn't stopped - hee hee. It's been a blast and every day has brought new changes and discoveries. A constant learning experience and reworking of what we thought we had down - she keeps us on our toes! Mike and I have both been humbled by this experience and are so grateful for our wonderful little family =)

37 Weeks!

I can't believe we're only 3 weeks out from meeting our son or daughter - I cannot express how EXCITED I am!!! I think of all the special moments ahead and it's just going to be so amazing - for one, not knowing "who" is arriving is undoubtedly the biggest surprise either of us have ever had in our life and second, the most amazing moment of our lives, so far, is just around the corner and we just have to wait! Surreal seems to be a good description of this whole experience.

As far as updates go - let's see, I had several Dr.'s appts. the last few weeks. I had a Dr.'s appt. at 34 weeks and baby's heartbeat was in the 150's. We went on the maternity tour at Fairfax INOVA and it was awesome seeing the nursery and how tiny the little babies are - that's when I personally got REALLY excited =) I had my fabulous baby shower which I wrote about below. I celebrated my 32nd birthday (interesting note: both Mike's Mom and my Mom were 32 when they had us). I went to a baby care class - which was informative. Had another Dr.'s appt. at 35 weeks and didn't get to hear the baby's heartbeat that visit, but baby was doing well. We had a wonderful 4th of July and we finished the nursery!!!!!! I LOVE to go in there and sit now - in the morning, in the middle of the night - it's just awesome, Mike truly knocked himself out on the room - it's incredible (as you can see from the pictures)! Just a couple extra personalization touches to add once baby arrrives. I had my 36 week appt. a few days ago with Mike and baby was doing great, his/her head was down and the heartbeat was 154. Then yesterday I took a breastfeeding class which helped prepare me a bit for what’s ahead.

As far as future updates go - I guess the next one will either be a 40 week update OR a birth announcement update! Until then.....=)

Baby Shower

What an incredible baby shower my family threw for me and baby this past Saturday. It was just a magical day to be honest - the day was set in our nature theme for the nursery: a magnolia tree was lit up with white lights and little birds tucked in, birds nests here and there, gorgeous flower arrangements, incredible food and baked goodies, fun games, butterflies and dragonflies tucked all around, wonderful family and friends and the list truly goes on. My parents’ home was the perfect gorgeous backdrop for the day and all the touches all the ladies (both Moms, Mama, Sisters and Niece) spent hours throwing together before the shower began made it incredible! Our wonderful family friend May, and three of my best friends, Heather, Loree and Lee Ann completed in making the day perfect! We had a blast! And the gifts we were showered with by all those there and just as many who were not there - it was just unbelievable - I mean this baby is totally set up!!! My words don't really capture how much the day meant to me and how I will always remember all the special touches and thoughtfulness that went in to that day. I'm very grateful and there is no doubt that this lil' one is loved already! Here are two pics - one of me and the ladies in my family (Mama, Amanda, Mom, Me, Stephanie, Jennifer, Marty) and one of me and my friends (unfortunately we didn't get May in the picture - Lee Ann, Me, Heather, Loree). Thank you everyone for everything!!!

33 Weeks

These past four weeks have brought some sorrow, my wonderful Grandfather passed away last weekend. I am so grateful for my life with Granddaddy and for the lessons he taught me. I will always remember, and will tell our baby, that from the first day we told Granddaddy that we were expecting a baby - the due date was sealed in his memory - every time I saw him, he'd proudly say the date with a smile. It's hard to imagine that he'll never get to hold him or her but I will make every effort to tell them about how wonderful their Great-Grandfather was and will be sure to take them to an opera as soon as they are old enough and who knows maybe they'll want to be a pilot when they grow up =) Granddaddy will be missed.

As far as baby updates go - we are just anxious for baby to come =) I had two Dr.'s appointments - one at 30 weeks, baby was doing well and the heartbeat was 146; and another at 31 weeks, baby was doing well and the heartbeat was 149.
In the weeks ahead I have a baby shower that the women in my family (meaning both sides of my family = "my family") have been busy planning for awhile now and I am so excited to spend the day with the ladies that mean so much to me. We have more baby classes ahead and my busy realtor husband is rapidly coming to a close on the nursery which is going to be fabulous and well worth the hard work =) Until next time....

Nursery Progress

I was glancing through the blog and realized I've been talking about the nursery almost every post - so I thought I'd post a pic of where we are right now. We chose a light spring green color for the walls and we have done a faux panel effect on the bottom of the wall - by putting up chair rail and trim which are shaping out boxes. The process has been long with both our jobs and all the other things around the house that we're trying to get done - but the process is moving! After the remaining boxes go up, we have to smooth out the nail work, and then paint. My sister and her family graciously gave us their gorgeous cherry wood nursery furniture. Mike and I bought a glider/ottoman, rug and shades. My Mom and Dad bought us our bedding - so our final step is to get all those pieces pulled together - THEN we are ready for baby! So, in the meantime - here is a status picture to hold you over =)

29 Weeks!

We are in the third trimester! Wow - this is going fast! We continue to be blessed with wonderful family and friends and soon enough a beautiful baby of our very own - we are so excited and are very grateful =)

On to updates - so the nursery is still underway - we hope to have it done very soon and once it's done - we will post a picture to show off all of Mike's hardwork! We started our first of many baby classes at INOVA hospital - childbirth express was the first and we both survived and have a certificate to prove it! We interviewed and selected a pediatrician - a constant learning experience as our process continues. I had my first glimpse at the reality that soon I will be a Mother on Mother's Day and had nice wishes for a Happy Mothers-to-be Day =)

Last Monday, I had my 28 week appointment and had Mom and Mama with me this time. It was very special and meant alot to have a four generation experience with the sonogram - pretty cool. It reminded us that at one point we were blessed to have five generations at one time when my Great-Grandmother, Nanny, was alive - and it was all women with little Amanda being the 5th! We'll see what Baby Wilson ends up being - if you ask Mama she'll tell you it's a girl! The jury is still out - boy or girl, we can't wait =) We heard the heartbeat and it was a strong 162 this time. Baby is doing great! Until next time...oh and here is the latest profile shot - we were at the beach house this weekend and my current baby - Brody - wanted in the picture with me =)

24 wait 25 Weeks!

Let's see - alot has happened over the last 4 weeks. Mike has been working like crazy in the nursery. My parents came over a couple of weekends ago and helped paint the closet and then we made a trip to Babies R Us and bought some things for the closet and the crib. Big Mike and Marty came over on Monday and helped Mike with a trip to Home Depot and to put up some of the chair rail in the nursery and to polish the furniture. Saturday - we had our "Making Room for Baby Yard Sale" - and all proceeds are going to Baby Wilson ;) We were able to buy our glider/ottoman set, rug and shades for the nursery this weekend! Slowly but surely the nursery is coming together! As soon as the nursery is complete - we'll post some pics.

Over the last month Baby Wilson has been moving around like crazy and every day I feel him/her stronger and stronger. In fact just this week, Mike felt baby for the first time which was super cool. Thoughts/feelings from both me and Mike are opposite on baby's gender - Mike thinks girl, I think boy - odds are 50/50 I guess ;)

This past Monday, we had the 23 week appointment and Marty and Mike both were with me this time, which was really special. Baby is doing well. Heartbeat this time was 154. The Dr. had the results from the big 18-20 week ultrasound and since the results are reading that I am a full 7 days farther along - my Dr. has moved up my due date from August 9th to August 2nd (Johnny's birthday =) With the disclaimer of course that baby will come whenever - but with it being a full week off - she decided to move it. =) Until next time...oh and here is another belly pic - I keep growing =) and you can see a glimpse of the nursery on the right side of the picture, like I said it's a work in progress!

Cherry Blossoms

Mike and I went out to tour the Cherry Blossoms in D.C. last weekend. It was a beautiful day and the trees were gorgeous. Everywhere we looked we saw babies and little kids soaking up the sights and enjoying the day - we can't wait to bring Baby Wilson along next time =)

20 Weeks!

Today marks 20 weeks! We're halfway there! Getting so excited for Baby Wilson to arrive! I had the 19 week appt. last Monday and baby was doing well - heartbeat was 146. A few updates on previous appointments - the 12 week appt. baby's heartbeat was 154; 15 week appt. baby's heartbeat was 150; at the 18 week Ultrasound baby's heartbeat was 157. Last few times I've seen my Dr. she's made note that the baby was breach and sitting very low - nothing to be concerned with - just something she commented on. The guessing games of "What?" Baby Wilson is going to be (boy or girl) has definitely begun. According to Old Wives Tales and other flip of the coin type estimates - Baby Wilson is a girl. I'm not sure....like Mike always says - as long as it has 10 fingers and 10 toes and is healthy - that's all that matters! What do you think Baby Wilson is? OH and I've been feeling lots of fluttering - the baby is becoming more and more active - which is super cool =) Lots more updates to come with the nursery and we have Grandmothers-to-be attending the next couple of Dr.'s appts. Lots more to report soon =)

Ultrasound News

So we had the 18-20 week Ultrasound today which took a good hour and a half - we didn't find out the gender and the technician didn't slip! Mike and I both repeated a few times that we don't want to know the gender - she got the picture and giggled. The baby looks good - the heartbeat was 157 today and weighed 10 ounces - the technician made comment that the baby's femur bone looked very long and asked Mike and I how tall we both were. The baby was moving a little bit, opening it's mouth and kept it's hands infront of it's face most of the time - maybe sucking his/her thumb =) In assessing all the measurements they estimated a due date of August 1 (rather than August 9) but stated that the due date won't change - it's just an estimation due to the baby's size - it could come 2 weeks before or 2 weeks later. All in all - baby is doing great! Mike and I are so excited and are in complete amazement at technology and what it allows us to learn so early on - incredible!

16 Weeks Picture

This was taken last Sunday, February 22 at the 16 week mark. Hopefully soon we'll start posting some pics of the nursery in progress. We are planning a "Making Room for Baby" yard sale in April so that we can move our office upstairs, guest room to the office and the nursery to the guest room. It's coming along pretty well so far =) We have decided on a trees and birds (nature) themed nursery (Brooke Collection in Pottery Barn Kids) and are finalizing our plan for the walls - stripes or mural, etc. We're having a great time planning for Baby Wilson's arrival!!! More to come soon!

Here is a picture of Laura at 12 weeks - our appointment with the Dr. is this Wednesday 28th - looking forward to hearing the heartbeat!

The Wilson Crib

We wanted to create a website to share with those close to us - to keep you updated on life in "The Wilson Crib". In the beginning we plan to share some pics of Laura as she grows! And in the coming months hope to have pics of the nursery once that starts coming together. Of course, this website will really come to life once Baby Wilson arrives! Please continue to check here for updates.

Love,

Laura & Mike
